Multi-touch interaction
Going one step beyond the traditional touch screen kiosk design, we have been developing showcase applications using the state of the art multi-touch technology. It expands the point and click metaphor and revolutionizes the interaction design idioms by allowing users to physically engage in direct manipulation of digital content with their sense of touch. The 'interacting surface' can be as flexible as a tabletop, wall size display, etc.
Gesture based interaction
Our signature gesture based interaction design provides the most flexible and least intrusive interacting mechanism for end users. It bases on artificial intelligent and statistical software to first learn a simple set of gestures and later recognize them. Users, by simply waving their hand in the air, command and control the operation of a computer interface to deliver digital content at will. It best suits for environment with spatial limitations. And in fact, it is 'Minority Report' into reality.
Motion based interaction
Future interaction design demands the whole body participation. Design with functionality and usability addresses the mental concern of the users. On top of this, DBISI enables our clients to add an extra concern at the emotional level, with the use of motion based interaction design. Emotion can best be manifested through the coupling of full body interaction and audio/visual feedback. We have developed sophisticated computer vision based software to facilitate motion tracking as a prime form of interaction mechanism. Application areas include virtual navigation directory, sport game, virtual musical instrument, etc. User-friendliness is step one. Emotional engagement is what differentiates us from other counterparts.
Physical computing interaction design
The DBISI research team also excels in the design of hardware interface which goes beyond the mouse and keyboard framework. With the use of commercially available micro-controllers, RFID devices, we build dedicated hardware platform which can communicate with any computers to form an integrated system for users to realize their media needs. The hardware is embedded into the product design and the technology is transparent to the users. Physical computing interaction design is ideal for clients who demand a total control of the interaction process in a highly immersive environment.
