Madagascar is a treasure trove of biological and cultural diversity. So much on our giant island is unique and found nowhere else. This is because the species on the island have been isolated here for a long time, surrounded by the ocean like a Noahs Ark that drifted away from the African continent in ancient geological time. Unfortunately our biodiversity, diverse habitats and culture are under great threat from deforestation, spiralling poverty and other negative influences. One way to make people understand the value of these resources is to bring them benefits through responsible tourism development. Madagascar Expedition Agency aims to do so by connecting the market directly with local communities so that benefits from tourism can be optimised at ground level.
