HIDDEN TREASURE OF LIFE
I was determined to pursue a noble profession of a physician. I was lucky to be born in the family - the back ground of my Fore fathers - who had sacrificed their whole life in search of truth rending at the bed side of a river in the small village at Chimthana in district Dhulia in Maharashtra. The family had a proud tradition - right from my great grand father our family was in Homoeopathy for the over 90 years. I always had an inclination to become a Homoeopath since very young.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
As being in the medical profession it is important to spread the awareness of Homoeopathy and help the patients through it. With this motto our doctors at Marks Homoeopathic Clinic have taken various camps for treating the sick who do not get Homoeopathic treatment in remote areas. They are unaware of how wonderfully Homoeopathy works in ailments which people think are incurable. The medicines for these camps are provided free of cost by Mayons Pharmaceuticals, Nagpur.

ABOUT HOMOEOPATHY
Homoeopathy - what it is
Homoeopathy is a science that was discovered way back in 1790 by a German physician called Dr Samuel Hahnemann.
The word Homoeopathy is derived from two Greek words:
HOMOEOS = Like / Similar
PATHOS = Suffering
How did this science come into being?
Dr Hahnemann was translating Cullen’s Materia medica. There it was written that Cinchona being bitter in taste cures malaria. Hahnemann had the decoction of Cinchona and was surprised to see all the symptoms of malaria upon him. This was the first step towards the dawn of Homoeopathy as with this he proposed a hypothesis that the ‘drug which can produce a diseased state can also cure it’…that is,
'SIMILIA SIMILIBUS CURENTUR' which simply means 'Let likes be cured by likes'
How does Homoeopathy work?
Homeopathy acts by stimulating the body's own healing mechanism. It activates the vital energy in our body. This energy is called ‘chi’ in Chinese medicine, and ‘prana’ in Sanskrit.
According to the law of SIMILIA SIMILIBUS CURENTUR, the symptoms of a diseased person can be cured by administration of a drug that has been proved to produce a similar set of symptoms in a healthy human being. For example, it is a well-known fact that all human beings experience irritation of eyes while cutting onions. These symptoms are very similar to the symptoms experienced during conjunctivitis.
Now, according to the Homoeopathic Law of 'Like Cures Likes', a remedy prepared from onions can definitely cure the symptoms of conjunctivitis – allium cepa
How is Homoeopathy different from Allopathy and Ayurveda?
Homoeopathy cures the ‘man’ in disease and not the disease in the man
Allopathy believes in finding out the cause of the disease, Homeopathy believes in stimulating the 'vital human energy' the ‘vital force’ to annihilate the disease in the body.
Allopathy associates diseases with particular parts of the body like tissues and organs. But, Homeopathy gives the treatment to a 'whole', not restricted to the local parts of the body. This 'constitutional treatment' adheres to treating the patient in entirety. After analyzing and evaluating a detailed history about the physical symptoms as well as the mental characteristics of a patient, the Homeopath deduces an 'individuality' of the patient on the basis of which he prescribes a constitutional remedy.
Allopathy prescribes multiple drugs for multiple problems, but Homeopathy needs only a single remedy at a time, that too in minimum possible dosages.
Ayurveda believes that all diseases originate due to derailment of the three humors of human life (Tridosha) Vaat, pitta and kaffa.
Are Homoeopathic medicines harmless and without any side effects?
Homoeopathic medicines are considered harmless and without any side effects. However, there is a word of caution. If these medicines are taken in consonance with the basic Homeopathic principle, then only will they be helpful.
Do we take Homoeopathic medicines along with Allopathic medicines?
If a patient has resorted to Homeopathy in the middle of an Allopathic course, it is advisable not to discontinue abruptly. But otherwise, a Homeopath is likely to taper off the Allopathic medicines at the earliest once he is assured that his remedy is working well.
Can Homoeopathic medicines be taken during pregnancy?
Definitely YES! Homeopathy acts wonderfully on pregnant women but should be taken only under strict medical supervision of a reputed Homoeopathic practitioner. It is beneficial to the mother as well as the fetus.
Why does Homeopathy case taking take a long time?
A human being is a combination of mind and body which is governed by his genetic code. In order to decode a peculiar human constitution it is important to know both his physical and mental planes in detail. For eg: 10 persons are suffering from a headache. In other systems of medicine the painkiller will treat the pain in all of them. In Homoeopathy each individual requires an individual drug depending on his physical and mental make up – during headache: some would be mild, some would be angry and individual will require ice cream and the other will want hot tea depending on their individuality. Thus this is the science of individualization.
In order to activate the patient's body, especially it's inherent healing energy; the Homeopath requires a very deep understanding of the behavioral pattern of the patient. Naturally, a Homeopath needs a detailed medical and psychological history of the patient.
What are the dos and don'ts during a Homeopathic treatment?
Dos:-
Give a detailed history to your Homeopath even though you might find certain questions very strange or embarrassing. They are for your benefit which helps to individualize your case
Keep a keen watch on all the changes of your body, mental and physical.
Don'ts:-
Take medicines on the tongue in a clean mouth
Do not take any food / drink at least 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after taking your medicine
Do not dilute the medicines with water unless specified.
Do not self-medicate
Refrain from taking or inhaling any strong smelling or pungent substances like menthol, deodorants, camphor etc
Is Homoeopathy slow acting?
Homeopathy is not at all a slow acting system of medicine. It acts wonderfully fast in all acute cases, especially when the disease is detected in the primary stages. It takes time to show results only during chronic conditions. However in chronic conditions the sense of well being is felt very early and gradually the patient becomes better on the path of recovery.
